Every article in Ketbook uses the symbols below. A page that needs something else defines it where it first appears.
States and configurations
Symbol
Meaning
N
number of lattice sites, or of particles in continuum problems
σ=(σ1,…,σN)
a basis configuration; for spin-21 in the Sz basis, σi=±1
Ψθ(σ)=⟨σ∣Ψθ⟩
unnormalized amplitude produced by the network with parameters θ
θ∈RNp or CNp
the Np variational parameters
pθ(σ)∝∣Ψθ(σ)∣2
the normalized sampling distribution
E0,E1
exact ground-state and first-excited energies of H in the sector considered
e=E/N
energy per site
Estimators
Symbol
Meaning
Ns
number of Monte Carlo samples used for one estimate
⟨⋅⟩
expectation over pθ; Epθ when the distribution must be explicit
Eloc(σ)=∑σ′Hσσ′Ψθ(σ′)/Ψθ(σ)
local energy
Eθ=⟨Eloc⟩
variational energy
Varθ(H)=⟨∣Eloc∣2⟩−∣Eθ∣2
energy variance of the state
Ok(σ)=∂θklogΨθ(σ)
log-derivative with respect to parameter k
Xˉ=X−⟨X⟩
a centred quantity
τint, Neff=Ns/2τint
integrated autocorrelation time and effective sample size
Optimization
Symbol
Meaning
Fk
energy gradient, 2Re⟨Oˉk∗Eˉloc⟩ for real θ and ⟨Oˉk∗Eˉloc⟩ for holomorphic complex θ
Skk′=⟨Oˉk∗Oˉk′⟩
quantum geometric tensor restricted to the variational manifold
η
learning rate, equal to the imaginary-time step in stochastic reconfiguration
λ
regularization strength
X∈CNs×Np, ε∈CNs
centred, Ns-normalized log-derivative matrix and local-energy vector, so that S=X†X and F=X†ε
Hamiltonians
Spin operators are Si=21σi with ℏ=1. A Hamiltonian written with Pauli matrices has energies four times larger for bilinear terms; benchmark definitions always state which is meant.
⟨i,j⟩ runs over nearest-neighbour bonds, ⟨⟨i,j⟩⟩ over next-nearest-neighbour bonds, each undirected bond counted once.
Lattice sizes are written L×L with N=L2; periodic boundary conditions in all directions unless stated.
Fermionic operators ciσ†, niσ=ciσ†ciσ; the Hubbard hopping is −t with t>0.

References are given as arXiv identifiers, which resolve to every version of a paper and to its journal record. A quantitative claim cites the table, equation or figure it comes from.
